Abstract

777,823. Moulding pipe insulation. GUSTINBACON MANUFACTURING CO., Inc. Oct. 28, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 29754/53. Class 87(2). [Also in Groups VIII and XXVIII] Thermal pipe insulation 60, formed of glass fibres and a binder, e.g. a phenol-, urea-, melamine-, or urea-melamine-aldehyde resin or a vinyl chloride-acetate copolymer, is wound on a hollow perforated mandrel 52 and placed in a two-part perforated mould 62. After securing the two halves of the mould together the pipe section is cured by injecting hot gases into the perforated mandrel. The cured section is allowed to cool, removed from the mould, and formed with an axially extending slit, which may extend radially or at an angle to the radius.
