Abstract
777,792. Air guns. MAROCCHI, S. Aug. 5,1955 [Aug. 11, 1954], No. 22544/55. Class 119. In a pneumatically operated rifle or pistol, pellets 10, Fig. 3, contained in a tubular magazine 28 are automatically fed to the barrel 8 by means of a lever 21, Figs. 2, 3 pivoted at 20 for lateral movement and actuated by a tail 25, Figs. 1, 2, on the trigger 24 during each pull thereof, the trigger also carrying a pivoted seat 26 adapted to retract and subsequently release a spring-urged ram 4 which, on forward movement, opens a valve 16 to release compressed gas from a reservoir 2 to the barrel 8. The lever 21 is pivoted in a lateral slot 12 in the housing and on pulling the trigger, the lever is moved inwardly to push a pellet along a bore 19 from which it falls through a bore 17 to the barrel. At the same time the sear 26 pushes back the ram 4 against the action of a spring 7 by engagement with a shoulder terminating a tapered portion 27. The sear rides up the tapered portion 27 until depressed out of engagement with the shoulder, the ram then being moved forward by the spring 7 so that a plunger 5 on the ram engages a tail 15 of the valve 16 to open it against the action of its spring. Compressed air then passes through a bore 13 and bores 17, 18 to the barrel to fire the pellet. Springs acting on the sear 26 and lever 21 restore these parts to their next positions.
