Abstract
777,722. Saw-tooth generating circuits. PYE, Ltd. June 1, 1955 [June 16, 1954], No. 17701/54. Class 40(6) The slope at the beginning of a saw tooth deflection wave form is linearized by providing a linearity control member made at least partly of conducting material and coupled electro-magnetically to the deflection coil, the member having such dimensions that it causes loss at the frequencies contained in the fly back pulse but not at the scan repetition frequency whereby the energy available for producing the first part of the scan, is reduced. The member may take the form 1, 1a, and may be made of metal or of insulating material lined with aluminium foil. In an alternative embodiment used in an efficiency diode type circuit the linearizing element consists of a synthetic resin impregnated paper tube lined or covered with aluminium foil and fitting over the neck of a cathode ray tube partly within the deflector coil assembly, the rear end of the tube being clamped in position by the iron trap magnet assembly (complete drawing, not shown).
