Abstract

777,160. Moulds. GERMEK, J. March 7, 1955, No. 6672/55. Class 83 (1). Chill - moulds, preferably for casting non - ferrous metals, consist of two parts, 1, 2, preferably similar and of grey cast-iron, &c., which are wedge-shaped in plan so that when they are pushed by handles 10, Fig. 2, between rollers 12 on a table 9, they are pressed together to close the parting surface 3. To open the mould, it is drawn backwards to cause a wedge 15 fixed on the table to enter a tapered cavity 6 and force the mould open. The wedge may have rollers 16, Fig. 4, on its inclined faces, or rollers in wedge-formation may be mounted on the table. The taper of the wedge 15 &c. is preferably the same as that of the cavity 6.
