Class 56 Substantially silica - free, tellurium dioxide containing glasses for absorbing X- rays consist of at least 80 per cent by weight of glass-forming tellurium dioxide and at least one other oxide of a metal having an atomic weight of more than 110, and riot more than 20 per cent by weight of glassforming oxides, other than TeO 2 , such as GeO 2 and B 2 O 3 Particular ranges comprise (percentages by weight):- TeO 2 2-20; PbO 50-90; Bi 2 O 3 0-25; CdO 0-10; B 2 O 3 0-10 and Ge 2 O 2 0-10.
