A bracket for mounting a rear view mirror on the side of a motor truck comprises an upper and a lower support member 14 each associated with a brace member 15, a frame 12 pivotally mounted on the outer ends of the support members and vertically spaced pivot means on the frame to support a mirror. The support members and the brace members as shown, are pivotally connected to base members 13 secured to the truck, and the brace members 15 are each in two parts hinged together, enabling the mirror to move backwards if the mirror frame should meet an obstacle. The frame 12 has rearwardlyextending lugs 30, 31 the upper lug 30 having two holes 33 and the lower lug 31 having a slot to receive adjustably the ends of the mirror casing 34 which are provided with studs 35 and lock nuts. The ends of the frame 12 are connected by a tie-bar 28. The frame may be used as shown, to mount two mirrors in which case a crossbar extends between the tie-bar 28 and the vertical frame element 25. A yoke which is secured to the crossbar has two lugs 40, 41 the upper lug being slotted and the lower lug 41 being perforated the lugs co-operating with lugs 30, 31 to mount adjustably and independently the casings of two mirrors. The support members 14, 15 may be made of tubular telescoping sections whereby their length may be extended. Each of the pivotal points of the bracket may be provided with a pivot pin shown in Fig. 10, which comprises a bolt 21, non-rusting washers 47, 48 an iron washer 49, a spring washer or open stiff spring 50, and a lock nut 51. The washers 47, 48 may be of non-ferrous metal, of synthetic resin, or of absorbent sheet material such as leather or paper board.
