[Also in Group XIX and XXXVI] A system for recording successively simultaneous values of a number of variables sensed at different test points comprises a group of measuring-instruments each having a pointer 6 indicating the value of one of the variables and respective locking means mounted for movement into and out of locking.relation with each pointer 6 and actuating means for operating the locking means simultaneously. The indications of the values of the variables at required instants are frozen by the locking of the pointers 6 when a programmer 30 causes energization of an electromagnet 24 to turn a shaft 26 and rock through levers 28 pivoted frames 29 carrying windings 14 of potentiometers 10 (see Group XXXVI) which frictionally engage wiper arms 12, each following one of the pointers 6 through a forked arm 11, whereupon the ganged wiper arms 126 of a three-bank commutator switch 32 successively connect a source of potential 130 to each winding 14 and simultaneously connect a recording apparatus 34 to the corresponding wiper 12 which taps a voltage proportional to the value indicated by the associated pointer 6 to enable the value to be recorded by the apparatus .34.
