775,927. Electric signalling systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 18, 1955, No. 11051/55. Class 40 (1). A digit-indicating device, for use for example, with a computing machine, comprises a continuously rotating shaft 3 which through a friction coupling 21, 23, rotates a drum 17 carrying the indications. Eleven electromagnets 24, corresponding to the digits 0 to 9 and to a neutral position, are mounted around the shaft 3, on a fixed support 1, each electromagnet having a movable core provided at one end with a peg 30 of non-magnetic material. A stop 38 is fixed on the inner surface of the drum 17 and co-operates with the pegs 30 so that when an electromagnet is energized the drum is stopped and the corresponding indication appears in a window 39. Several indicators may be mounted side-by-side on the same shaft and each window 39 may be provided with a shutter 40 which is withdrawn electromagnetically when a drum ceases to rotate.
