Abstract
775,594. Look-out mirrors for vehicles. O'SHEI, W. E. Nov. 15, 1955 [Nov. 22, 1954], No. 33721/54. Class 103(2). A rear-viewing mirror for vehicles such as described in Specifications 746,275, 746,366 and 746,370, in which the mirror is mounted on a stan chion carried from a base member by a flexible joint comprising indexing parts urged into positively-located abutting relationship by a spring or like resilient means, has the spring located in a cavity in the stanchion. As shown, the mirror 8 is adjustably mounted on a hollow stanchion 7 formed with a rectangular recess 6 engaged by a pyramidal projection 5 on a base member 1. A pin 17 on the projection 5 is pivotally connected to a link 15 which is pivotally connected to a headed rod 14 surrounded by a spring 11. The rod passes through a hole in a plate 12, the spring 11 being compressed between the plate and the head of the rod. In a modification the spring is a tension spring, one end of which is hooked over a pin carrying the mirror proper and the other end being hooked over a pin bridging an aperture in part of the base member.
