Abstract

775,159. Sole presses. SCHUHMASCHINEN-GES. HANKE & CO. May 5, 1955 [May 12, 1954], No. 13098/55. Class 17 (1). In a two-station sole cementing press wherein the stations are operated alternately by lowering or elevating the air-pressure pads at the respective stations by a pressure medium, the base of each pad is connected by a supporting bar 14, 15 having serrations or notches 16, 17 to a balance lever 27 the pin 28 of which may be raised and lowered by a single lifting device 8, and the bars may be secured in a fixed position by means of locking members 18, 19 which engage the members 16, 17, of both bars when the element controlling the movement of the locking members is in its central position but lock one or other of the bars when moved. The machine illustrated is operated from the position shown in Fig. 4 as follows. When pedal 11 is depressed sleeve 56 moves downwardly, and through 71, 73 moves socket 36 into chamber 38 and spring 35 moves valve 34 to close chamber 33 at the top and open out at the bottom, so that air in line 42 passes through 32 to chamber 31 of cylinder 8 of the lifting apparatus. Piston 30 and pin 28 are thus raised, the speed being regulated by adjustable throttle valve 41, and lever 27 pivoted about 25 to move bar 15 upwardly. As sleeve 56 moves downwardly member 69 which does not move therewith acts on one inclined surface 67 to swing lever 63 about 62, so that rod 53 is moved into position under the adjustable socket 51, and the freed socket 52 is moved downwardly by spring 96. The upper seat of chamber 74 is thus closed and the lower seat opened, so that air escapes from pad 81 and chamber 79 to the atmosphere through 77', 77, and 48'. Piston 22 is then moved to a central position by equal springs 23, 24, so that member 18 engages serrations 16 to retain bar 15 in its highest position, to which it has now been moved. When the pedal is released it is returned by spring 60 and rod 53 raises socket 51 so that spring 97 operates valve' 45 to close the lower seat and open the upper seat. Air then passes through 42, 43, and 76 to move piston 22 so that member 18 locks bar 15, while member 19 releases bar 14, and through 76' and three way valve 9 to fire pressure pad 80. Return of the pedal also frees socket 36 which is raised by its spring, and air escapes from 31 through 32, 33, 38, 39, so that rod 14 with pad 81 slides downwardly by its own weight and the shoe on the pad may be removed. Resilient washers 98, 99 absorb shock when bars 14, 15 are lowered. If the air pressure falls below a desired value spring 100 moves piston 82 to the left so that lever 84 is swung and detent 86 engaged with detent 87 to lock the pedal. The pressure in pads 80, 81 may be released, e.g. so that the shoe may be adjusted, by swinging handle 101 in the direction of arrow 102 to shift valve 9, the respective pad being refilled when handle 101 is returned. Pressure arms 91, coarsely adjusted vertically by exchangeable spacing rings 107, 108, have horizontally adjustable toe and heel members 92, 93, the latter also being adjustable vertically. The machine has a switch 103 for the compressor motor, a control valve 106 for regulating the speed of operation, a pressure gauge 89, and an adjustable valve 90 to control the pressure in line 42.
