Abstract
774,481. Lift trucks. SHARP, J. R., and KAYE, E. May 8, 1953 [May 15, 1952], No. 12344/52. Class 78 (3). The fork shovel or grippers 30 of a telescopic masted, pedestrain controlled, lift truck is tilted relative to the lifting carriage 20 about an axis 27 by a pair of single acting hydraulic thrustors 34 which are urged to a closed position by springs 39. The moment of the load exerted on the fork is indicated by a pressure gauge (not shown) in the hydraulic circuit feeding the thrustors, whilst the angle of tilt of the fork is indicated by means of a mechanism (Fig. 3, not shown) carried by plate 29. The manuallyoperated valve (Fig. 5, not shown) which controls the flow of fluid to and from the thrustors is adapted to close an electric circuit for the pump motor on initial movement to the fluid inlet position. To prevent fouling of the pipes carrying fluid to the thrustors 34 and to the ram (not shown) which raises the carriage 20 along the upper mast section 18, the pipes are carried in opposed pairs of channel guides (not shown) secured to the two mast sections and adapted to maintain each pipe in a U formation in all positions of the carriage and mast section 18.
