Abstract
The invention comprises saccharide derivatives of N-deacetylalkylthiocolchiceines of the general formula: <FORM:0773729/IV(b)/1> (wherein R is H or Me, R1 is a saccharide radical, and R2 is an alkyl group containing not more than six carbon atoms) and a process for their preparation by heating approximately stoichiometric amounts of a saccharide and a tropolonic derivative having the above formula, wherein R is H or Me, R1 is H and R2 is an alkyl group containing not more than six carbon atoms, in a solvent (preferably a lower aliphatic alcohol) at a temperature of from 50-110 DEG C., concentrating the resulting solution, cooling and separating the desired N-heteroside. In an example deacetylthiocolchicine and d(+)-glucose are refluxed in methanol, the solution concentrated and cooled to 0 DEG C. when the N-glucoside of deacetylthiocolchicine separated in crystals containing one molecule of water of crystallization. Similarly, using the appropriate sugar, the corresponding N-galactoside, N-riboside, N-xyloside, N-arabinoside and N-lyxoside are prepared, and also the N-glucosides of 2-demethyl-deacetylthiocolchicine and deacetylethylthiocolchiceine.
