Abstract
772,442. Making turbine blades; stamping. ARNOLD, J. C. (Geen, C. P.). Dec. 18, 1953, No. 35381/53, Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Groups IX and XXVI] Vanes for an hydraulic turbine are formed from a blank 90, Fig. 13, the extension 94 of which is secured in a clamp 95, Fig. 14, so that the portion 96 projects upwardly at an angle of 19¢ degrees to the horizontal over an anvil 96<SP>1</SP>. The upper surface 97 of the anvil is shaped as the surface of a cone having a 40 degrees included angle and whose major axis lies on a horizontal lie 98. A hammer 101 carries a conical male die element 103 which co-operates with the surface 97 to form the blade. The clamp 95 consists of a vertically slidable block 105 having a slot 106 to receive the blank 90 and a clamping pin 108 which is tightened by a screw 111 acting through a clamping bar 109.
