Abstract
290,451. Donato, E. de. May 31, 1927. Shearing; shear-blades.-The cutter carriers of shearing machines are adapted to be positively adjusted in either of two opposite directions by wedges. The upper cutter j with locating projections t is mounted on a carrier l which is vertically adjusted upwards or downwards relatively to the slide k by a wedge n. The lower cutter i is mounted on a carrier which is vertically adjustable on a slide b by a wedge-actuating nut h, the slide h itself being adjustable transversely of the cutters by a wedge a. The cutters may each have two cutting edges either of which may be rendered operative by reversal of the cutter. The lower cutter carrier may be adjusted simultaneously vertically and laterally by a single wedge having two inclined surfaces. In a modification the lower cutter slide has a disc y, Fig. 7, having a slot with which engages a key x on an adjusting slide v. Each end of the cutter slide may be adjusted independently.
