772,269. Ring spinning machines. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES SOC. ANON. Dec. 16, 1954 [Dec. 30, 1953], No. 36500/54. Class 120 (2). A textile ring spinning machine of the direct drive type in which spindles are driven by gearing from a drive shaft, and including a row of spindles mounted on a spindle rail extending all along the machine and carrying the drive shaft and the gearing and in which each spindle is surrounded by a traveller ring having a. reciprocating displacement parallel to the axis of the spindle, is characterized in that the spindle rail 3 is mounted on a fixed frame of the machine so as to be free to extend in the longitudinal direction under the effect of thermal expansion with respect to the frame and that the rings 5 are grouped in sets of a limited number each carried by one of a plurality of elementary ring rails 6 mounted in line with one another and each being carried by the spindle rail in such a manner as to accompany the portion of the spindle rail with which it co-operates, in the displacements imparted thereto by thermal expansion such that there is very little off-setting between the rings and the spindles. In the arrangement shown the spindle rail 3 is constituted by a plurality of sections connected end to end, a key 7 guiding each section in the longitudinal direction upon a cross member 1. The elementary ring rails 6 are guided at their mid-points on members 8 rigid with the spindle rail 3 and rest at their ends on plates 9 slidable on brackets 10 rigid with the frame of the machine. Between each end of the rails 6 and the corresponding plate 9 there is a pin and slot connection 11, 12.
