Abstract
772,264. Ironing. KEY, J. R. Aug. 18, 1955 [Sept. 1, 1954], No. 25367/54. Class 138 (2). A garment holding device for use with a pressing machine comprises a plurality of pliable tapes or cords 11 which can be passed transversely in spaced relationship over a garment laid upon the buck member 2 of the pressing machine, and means for tensioning the tapes or cords sufficiently to hold them down on the garment while enabling the tapes or cords to be lifted individually over any part of the length overlying the garment during the arrangement of pleats or folds thereof prior to the pressing operation. The tapes or cords pass over upper and lower pulleys or guides 7 and 8 and are provided with weights 12 at one end and balancing weights 13 at the other end. In the example illustrated cords 9 are connected by coupling elements to tapes 11 which pass through guides 10. Spring or other resilient tensioning means may be used in place of the weights 12 and/or 13.
