Abstract

771,208. Rotatable shelves. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 28, 1955 [July 29, 1954], No. 21855/55. Class 52 (1). Rotary shelves 9, 10 are carried by a shaft 11 made in separate disconnectible sections 12, 13, 14 independently rotatable, the shaft being removably mounted in a refrigerator or other storage equipment. As shown the sections 12, 13 have spigots 18, 20 entering sockets on the adjacent lower sections each provided with a thrust ball bearing 21, 22. A dependent spigot on the underside of a removable shelf 16 locates the upper end of the shaft and bayonet slots in the shelf flange engage headed studs 42 on the compartment wall. The shelves rest on threaded collars 25, 26 adjustable on a screw thread cut on the shaft which has longitudinal flats 23 engaged by a spring plunger in each collar to prevent unintentional rotation of the collar. The rear edge of each shelf is notched to engage a spring-pressed locating rod 33 at the back of the compartment.
