Abstract
770,328. Retractive switches; mechanical switches without quick action. WALLER, E.'F. Aug. 15, 1955 [Sept. 14, 1954], No. 26687/54. Class 38(5) A switching device for flashing the lights of a vehicle when these are either on or off comprises a main switch and a push button retractive switch. The push button switch comprises a spring loaded hollow plunger 7 centrally located by a terminal spigot 10 and carrying a contact plate 6 which engages a fixed contact 4 normally and a fixed contact 5 when depressed. Contacts 4, 5 are connected to contacts 12, 13 on the top of an insulating plate 2 where there is also disposed a contact 14 connected to a terminal 16. A rotatable knob 19 carries a bridging contact 15, the contacts 12...15 forming the main switch. When contact 15 bridges contacts 12, 14 a circuit through 16, 14, 15, 12, 4, 6, 10 is completed, (lights on) whereupon depression of the plunger breaks the circuit. When contact 15 bridges contacts 14, 13 the circuit is normally open (lights off), and is completed on depression of the plunger through 16, 14, 15, 13, 5, 6, 10. In a modification (Figs. 4-7 not shown) the main switch is carried by, though insulated from, an extension of the spigot 10 which is rotatable through a pin and slot connection by rotation of the plunger 7. The contacts 12...14 are shaped. and disposed to locate the bridging contact 15.
