Abstract

769,336. Optical apparatus. ILFORD Ltd. July 26, 1955 [Aug. 16, 1954]. No. 23772/54. Class 97(1) [Also in Group XVI] For registering printing blocks in first forme 2 with those in a second forme 3 for multicolour printing an image of the forme 2 is projected via a lens 4 and mirror 5 on to a screen 7 and an image of the forme 3 is projected via a lens 8, mirrors 9 and 10, and semi-reflector 6 on to the same screen 7. The formes are mounted on a platform 1 movable in two directions at right angles by means of rollers 11 and slides 12. Alternatively the optical system may be carried on overhead rails for movement in two directions at right-angles. The blocks may be inked with white ink and-illuminated by tungsten lamps. A colour filter may be placed in one of the optical paths so that the two images may be distinguished. The image on the screen 7 is normally laterally inverted and the mirror 5 and either the mirror 9 or 10 may be replaced by any known optical device designed to effect a "straight line" reversal of the image.
