Abstract

To reduce the air-permeability of butyl rubber, butyl reclaim, neoprene or GR-S rubber vulcanizates for use in tubeless tyres (see Group XXXIV), particles of ground mica and/or aluminium are incorporated in the rubber mix which is then calendered, spread or extruded to striate and overlap the particles.ALSO:To reduce the air permeability of natural rubber for use in tubeless tyres (see Group XXXIV), particles of mica and/or aluminium water-ground to 160 or 325 mesh, are mixed with the rubber composition which is subsequently calendered, spread or extruded to cause the particles to striate and overlap.
