Abstract
768,849. Discharging grain. AKTIEBOLAGET WESTERASMASKINER. Sept. 20, 1954, No. 27204/54. Class 58. The grain tank 3 of a combine harvester is preferably located above the thrashing mechanism 2 and has at the bottom a worm 4 which conveys grain through an outlet into a discharge tube 8 comprising a conveying worm 9, which tube is connected to the tank, as by a socket 7, so that it can be swung from an outwardly directed discharging position into a position alongside the combine harvester. The tube may pivot about an axis which is vertical or steeply inclined to the vertical, or it may be mounted to swing both vertically and horizontally. The tube may carry a socket 18, which may be attached by a rotary bearing 19 to the obliquely and/or downwardly projecting socket 7. The worm 9 may be driven from the shaft of the worm 4 by a telescoping shaft 14, a sprocket 13, a chain and a sprocket 12 on the outer end of the shaft 10 of the worm 9. The sprockets may be journalled in the outer end of the tube approximately in register with its discharge opening 11. The discharge tube may be supported by a stay 17 pivoted to the top of the tank.
