Abstract

768,095. Educational appliances. BLAINE, G. May 17, 1955 [May 18, 1954], No. 14590/54. Class 146(2). An anatomical model in the form of a hospital-doll comprises a framework of rigid plastic impregnated fibre board units articulated together, a flexible skin e.g., of polyvinyl plastisol or latex, covering the units and permitting the doll to be moved into various positions, a mouth opening 13 and an anal orifice 14 in 'the doll, and an alimentary canal 15 extending therebetween. Additional openings e.g., gastrostomy, tracheotomy 18, ileostomy 21, nasal 16, aural 17, colostomy 20 and suprapubic may be provided. Interchangeable male and female internal and external genito-urinary organs may be detachably fastened into position. The passages of these organs conform in all essentials to the actual curvature and consistency of the natural passages so that e.g. the passing of a catheta into the bladder may be studied. A removable hollow pad may be attached to the model with the aid of which injections may be carried out.
