Abstract

768,084. Bearings. GENERAL RADIOLOGICAL, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1955 [Feb. 11, 1954], No. 4058/54. Class 12 (1). [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL (a)] The bearings in which the rotating anode of an X-ray tube is carried are made, wholly or in part, of an insulating material. Suitable substances are such ceramics and glasses as are sufficiently hard, with low vapour pressure and low expansion under working conditions, such as an aluminium oxide ceramic. In Fig. 2, only the balls 15 are of insulating material, the outer race 14 and the anode shaft 16 being of metal. In Fig. 3, the inner and outer races 17, 18 are of insulating material, the rollers 19 being of metal.
