A draughtsmari's table has the board 13 mounted on a frame 12, pivoted at 11 to uprights 7 and 8 which telescope into channel shaped uprights 1, 2, means being provided to balance the weight of the movable structure, together with first and second pedal-operated mechanisms respectively for locking the board at any desired height and for releasing the board about its horizontal axis to permit angular variation. Pairs of crosspieces 3, 4 connect uprights 1, 2 and crosspieces 9, 10 connect uprights 7, 8. Between the crosspieces 4 is pivoted a two grooved pulley 16, over which (Fig. 2) passes a cable 17, 18 fixed at its ends 19, 20 to the uprights 7, 8. Cams 27 are arranged concentrically on the outer faces of pulley 16 and a cable 28 attached at its ends to spring assemblies 31 passes over each cam and through a hole in the pulley. Vertical locking of the board is obtained by cams 35 carried by a spring biased rod 33 bearing against the uprights 7, 8. The rod 33 extends between cam covers 34 and has a lever arm 38, attached at one end, which is linked to a pedal 40. Angular locking of the board is effected by means of a curved rod 43, semicircular in cross-section and pivoted at one end to the board frame 12, which slides diametrically through a cylindrical block 44. A rod 46 shaped at its end to accommodate rod 43 is fixed longitudinally in the block 44 and has a lever arm 47 spring biased to rotate the cylinder thus firmly gripping rod 43. A cable 49 is attached to the lever 47 and extends downwards, passing between two rollers 51 mounted on a disc 52, the other end being secured at 50 to upright 7. A lever arm 54 linked to a pedal 56 is secured to the disc 52 so that on depressing the pedal the disc rotates, tightening the cable 49, turning the cylindrical block 46 and so releasing rod 43 enabling the board 13 to be angularly adjusted.
