Abstract

765,955. Thermionic distributers. STAATSBEDRIJF DER POSTERIJEN, TELEGRAFIE EN TELEFONIE. Nov. 19, 1952 [Nov. 24, 1951], No. 18199/54. Divided out of 765,953. Class 40 (3). The description is wholly included in Specification 765,953, and the claims are for an electronic distributer comprising an input tube and a number of distributer tubes having a common cathode resistor connected to the negative pole of a voltage source of which the positive pole is connected to the anode of the input tube and through resistors to the anodes of the distributer tubes, the anode of a distributer tube being connected by a capacitor to the control grid of the next tube and each distributer tube having between its anode and the negative pole of the voltage source a potentiometer provided with a tapping point connected to a separate conductor, and to ensure that solely one distributer tube is conductive at any instant, each conductor is connected by rectifiers to the control grids of all the distributer tubes, the potentiometer tapping points of which are not connected to the relevant conductor. The distributer comprises a circuit IV incorporating an input tube B4a and a tube B4b forming the first distributer tube and three circuits V1, V2, V3, each including two triodes, such as B5a, B5b and completing an array of seven distributer tubes. At any stage one only of the distributer tubes is conducting and assuming this to be B4b, the tube B4a is in a cut-off condition since all the cathodes are connected to a common resistor R4 and a negative voltage is applied from output terminal 4 of the tube B4b of circuit IV to the input terminals 8 or 5 of the other six tubes. When a positive pulse is applied at 8 to the grid of the tube B4a, e.g. from a multivibrator operating at 50 c.p.s., the tube B4a conducts and cuts off the conductive tube B4b which at its anode circuit produces a positive pulse applied from terminal 3 over capacitor C1 to the grid input 8 of the triode B5a, the first tube of V1, which conducts and cuts off the tube B4a of the circuit IV and also applies at output terminal 9 a negative potential to conductor 2 and via the connected rectifiers of the groups G5 ... G10, G11 ... G16, G17 ... G22, G41 ... G46 to the input circuits of all the other six distributing tubes. The arrangement provides a timed sequence of negative potentials on the conductors 1 ... 7, the potential at any time on the other six conductors being positive. Specification 572,884, [Group XL], also is referred to.
