Abstract

765,427. Mixing appliances. MAGNETO BELGE SOC. ANON. March 3, 1955 [March 6, 1954], No. 6340/55. Class 86 A mixing device comprises a rotatable shaft carrying at its lower end a propeller or the like which is surrounded by a ring forming part of a stationary casing inside which the shaft can rotate, the ring being provided on part of its periphery with a downwardly-extending abutment adjusted to rest on the bottom of a vessel to space the propeller from said bottom. As shown, an electric motor 3 is enclosed in a housing 5 and provided with a handle 6, and the shaft 2 of the motor is connected to a shaft 1 extending inside a casing 8 secured to the housing 5. The lower end of the shaft 1 is journalled in a bearing 9 located in a sleeve 10 secured to the casing 8. A propeller 12 is secured to the shaft 1 by a nut 13. The propeller is located within a ring 14 forming part of a semicircular extension 15 of the casing 8, the ring having a downwardly-extending abutment 16 which prevents the propeller from contacting the bottom of the vessel in which mixing takes place.
