765,353. Copy-milling. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR, Ltd. March 29, 1955 [May 21, 1954], No. 14940/54. Class 83 (3). An hydraulically-controlled copying-machine comprises a work-table 7 and a number of control cams 15, 16 mounted on opposite ends of a shaft 12. In a milling-machine, a cutter 1 is rotated by motor 5 and fed by a handle 6. The speed-control cam 15 controls a valve 25 supplying fluid to a motor 30 to rotate the table 7 through worm-gearing 33, 34 which may also be rotated by a handle 35. This gives a constant cutting-speed. The profile cam 16 acts on a conventional deflectable tracer 24 and valve 23 and controls a piston 18 to move the cutter-slide 3, the initial position of the slide being adjusted by hand wheels 22. A sliding door 31 gives access to the cams. The table 7 may be vertical and the milling spindle horizontal and the cams be integral with one another. Instead of moving the tool 1 radially, the axis of the table may be moved.
