Abstract
764,984. Moulding by dipping. DOHMEN, W. and WAGNER, B. [trading as DOHMEN & WAGNER GUMMIWARENFABRIK]. Nov. 4, 1954 [Nov. 4, 1953], No. 31969/54. Class 87(2). Apparatus for moulding by dipping in which the dipping moulds are caused to enter and leave the tank at an incline by a conveyer chain has the guide rollers or chain wheels of the conveyer adjustable in such a manner that the inclination of the directions of introduction and/or withdrawal and/or the dipping depth can be varied without any influence on the chain velocity. The dipping formers 20 are suspended from a conveyer 1 which takes them through a washing device 2, one or more acid baths 3, a latex dipping bath 7, a lipping machine 8 for bordering the edge of the dipped article, a drier 9, a vulcanizer 10 and to a machine 11 which releases the finished articles and drops them on a delivery conveyer 12. The formers 20 are suspended from the conveyer chain by beams 23 which rest on the horizontal arms of hooks 24a, Fig. 4, fixed to the chain in a manner known in building cranes. The conveyer guide wheels 13, 14, 15, above the bath 3, Fig. 5, are positioned so that the formers 20 are dipped into the acid and start to emerge immediately after passing the wheel 14. The guide wheels 16, 17, 18, 19 above the latex bath 7 are positioned so that the formers enter the latex obliquely, remain in it for a time dependent on the spacing of the wheels 17, 18 and are gradually withdrawn according to the inclination of the conveyer from the wheel 18 to the wheel 19. All the guide wheels 13-19 are adjustable in position to adapt the directions of introduction and withdrawal of the moulds 20 and the length of horizontal travel to the prevailing conditions required for the process. To avoid the sides of the tanks being struck by the formers they are inclined, the walls 21 having the inclination shown to conform to the withdrawal path of the formers. The level of the latex in the tank 7 is kept constant by replenishment from a reserve tank 6 by a pump 5 driven at 4 from the conveyer 1. The output of the machine may be controlled by the number of beams 23 suspended on each hook.
