Abstract

764,983. Shovel bucket attachments for fork lift trucks. ADAMS, A. E. May 20, 1955 [July 26, 1954], No. 21790/54. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). [Also in Group XXI] A shovel bucket is provided with means for releasably attaching it to the fork of a lift truck. The bucket 11 is mounted for pivoting and sliding movement on members 17 secured to inverted channel members 22 which receive the fork tines 24 and are releasably attached thereto by a catch mechanism 34, 35. A latch 41 which is mounted centrally on a #-shaped member 36 secured to members 22, engages beneath a cross-bar 44 which is mounted on the bucket for pivoting movement about an axis 45a. The bucket is so designed that, when loaded, its centre of gravity is located between pivots 19, 45a; thus, when catch 41 is engaged with bar 44, the rear of the loaded bucket drops, whilst on release of catch 41 the bucket tilts to a discharge position. In various modifications (not shown) the catch mechanism 34, 35 may be either spring-loaded or dispensed with, and the whole assembly may be shrouded by a casing.
