Abstract
Pyrrolidine derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0764690/IV(b)/1> wherein R3 is a methyl, ethyl, allyl cyclohexyl, or benzyl group are obtained by treating succinic acid mono-ethyl ester amides of the formula C2H5OCO.CH2-CH2CO.NHR3 in boiling benzene or toluene with phosphorus pentasulphide. The corresponding compound where R3 is phenyl is stated to be known. Succinic acid mon-ethyl ester amides of the formula above are prepared by reacting amines of the formula R3NH2 with succinic acid mon-ethyl ester chloride.ALSO:Dyes of the following general formula are described:-<FORM:0764690/IV(b)/1> wherein R1 represents an alkyl group, R3 is a methyl, ethyl, allyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or benzyl group and Z completes a heterocyclic nucleus such as dihydroquinoline, pyrrolidine, indoline, thiazolidine, 2.3 dihydrobenzthiazole, 2.3 dihydrobenzoxazole or 2.3 dihydrobenzselenazole. The carbocyclic rings of such nuclei may be substituted with alkyl, alkoxy or aryl groups. The dyes may be prepared by condensing a compound of the formula <FORM:0764690/IV(b)/2> wherein R2 is =O or =N-C6H5 with a 2-thioketo-5-keto-pyrrolidine having an R3 substituent on the N atom. The condensation may be carried out in pyridine as solvent, using a condensing agent such as piperidine.
