Abstract

764,402. Percussive tools. BOSCH, GES., R. Jan. 6, 1955, No. 377/55. Class 124. A support for a hand guided, power driven percussive tool comprises a plurality of members longitudinally slidable relatively to one another and spring means to urge the members into the extended position. As shown, the support may comprise three tubes 6, 7, 8 telescopically arranged, the innermost 8 carrying a spike 9 or other foot, and the outermost 6 carying a part 5 for.the attachment of an electric or other percussive tool. The tubes have collars 12, 13, 14, 15 to prevent them coming apart under the action of a spring 10, arranged within the tube 8 and urging the tubes into the extended position. A mandrel 11, fixed to the part 5 and of length nearly equal to the length of the longest tube prevents the spring from oscillating or buckling. The strength of the spring is such that it just balances the weight of the tool when almost in the fully collapsed position.
