Class 8(1) The output of a compressor is bypassed to atmosphere on to the suction side by a device comprising a series of chambers 2 in communication with each other through apertures 4 which are narrow in comparison with the width of the. chamber. During normal operation a small by-pass occurs but large by-pass on starting up facilitates the starting of an electric driving motor.
