Abstract
764,346. Guides for mine cages and skips. HOUILLERES DU BASSIN DE LORRAINE. Jan. 12, 1955 [Jan. 22, 1954], No. 953/55. Class 78 (3). The guide shoe for a pit cage or skip is carried at the end of an arm mounted on the cage or skip by at least two sets of resilient damping elements. The arm 6 is provided with a shoe 1 engaging a guide rail 20, and extends loosely through an opening 3 in one side wall 4 of the cage. Secured to the arm are members 5, 7 which are engaged respectively by the inner ends of elements 10, 13, 17 the outer ends of which engage box members 12, 14 bolted to the cage walls. Each element, Figs. 6, 7, 8 (not shown), comprises a pre-stressed helical spring or rubber block the ends of which are engaged respectively with one member 5 or 7 and the associated box member 12 or 14, by means of bolts or locating rings. Bell-shaped shrouds, secured to the ends of the elements engaged by the box members and spaced from the members 5 or 7, serve to limit the compression of the elements. A pair of these devices are mounted on the cage under a pivoted cover, and are so arranged that the associated shoes engage guide rails located either at opposite ends of, or at the same side of, the cage.
