Classes 98(1) and 98(2) A supporting plate for copy material has a smooth flush or slightly raised border around a working area covered with a network of coherent grooves or which has a roughened surface, and a synthetic transparent frameless foil in the nature of a lid fixed on one side, the working area being connected to an air suction device so that depression originated by air suction off the space between the lid and supporting plate can extend over the whole working area. The lid may be in the form of a contact screen. Figs. 1, 2 and 3 are elevation, plan and section respectively of the holder in simple form in which the supporting plate 1 on supporting pads 6 has working area 2 provided with grooves 211 and surroundded by border 27, the grooves being connected by bore 3 to hose 5 of the exhausting device; and the flexible transparent lid or cover 7 is fixed at one side of the plate 1 by ledge 8 and screws 9. In Fig. 4 (not shown) such holder with the lid or cover 7 in the form of a half-tone screen is in place for exposure in an enlarger. Figs. 11-14 (not shown) illustrate a holder similar to that of Figs. 1-3 but provided with a wire suspension loop to hold up the cover 7 during work on the supporting plate 1, and provided with a system of co-ordinated right-angled measuring lines and with a set of lines at the usual screen angles marked on the working area 2 of the plate 1 to facilitate location of the photo material in desired position in the holder. In Figs: 5-10, of which Fig. 5 only is shown, the holder incorporates a registration device of particular use in corrective masking. In this modification a carrier 30 attached to the supporting plate 1 is provided with a swivellable punching ledge 17 with a pair of punches 14 to project punch pins 20 through negative and sensitized material into the bearing plate 1, whereby the sensitized material after exposure and processing, may be restored on the pins in register with the same negative for further exposure through the negative and processed material constituting a mash on to a further sensitized material on the supporting plate 1. When used with the punch pins 20 the cover 7 has raised caps to fit over the pins and prevent air leak.
