763,693. Percussive drills. COUARD, A. F. E. Jan. 7, 1955 [Jan 12, 1954], No. 598/55. Class 124. [Also in Group XIX] The drill comprises a rod 15, Fig. 2, provided at one end with a striking head 1 from which a guide rod 4 for a driving hammer extends, the rod 4 being resiliently mounted in the head by rubber packing 7, 8. The guide rod may have an enlarged end mounted in the head under one or more helical springs. The rod 15 may comprise two or more sections each having screw-threaded portions 17 and extremities 16 of smaller diameter than the remainder so that the blows of the hammer may be transmitted via the end portions without damaging the screw threads. The normally tapered socket 13 in the head 1 may be plugged as at 14 to engage the extremity 16 of the first rod section.
