Abstract

763,476. Respiratory appliances MEDICAL SUPPLY ASSOCIATION, Ltd. May 11, 1955 [Feb. 11, 1954]. No. 4053/54. Class 81(2) A cuirass for artificial respiration is of generally domed shape 1 with flanges 6, 7, at the top and bottom edges, extending roughly parallel with the body surface in the region of the sternum and abdomen. These flanges sweep into the general surface line of the cuirass towards the sides 8, where they extend downwards parallel with the body in the region of the loins. The flanges and sides of the cuirass are provided with a sealing member 9 of cellular rubber having interconnected cells, this being of rectangular cross-section. The pores on the outer face and body-contacting face are covered with an adherent film of self-vulcanizing latex. The member 9 is secured by a rubber strip 10.
