Abstract
762,474. Photographic developing apparatus. RUIJS, F. W. June 3, 1953 [June 7, 1952; Jan. 9, 1953], No. 15367/53. Class 98(2) Apparatus for developing flexible exposed photographic sheet material and/or transferring an image on to flexible image-receiving sheet material by migratory transfer of silver halide and comprising a tank for the developing bath and a developer liquid storage tank acting on the bird cage fountain principle, is characterized the liquid storage tank is connected with the tank for the developing bath so that it may be rotated between an upper position in which liquid flows from the storage tank to the developing bath and a lower position in which the developing bath may be emptied into the storage tank. Preferably the two tanks are joined by two tubes, one near the bottom of the developing bath tank and the other at the operative height of the developing liquid. As shown, three plates 4, 5, 6, together with the bottom of the developing tank 3 form guideways in the developer through which two exposed but undeveloped negatives, and an intervening receiving sheet are passed so as to. form above the level of the developer a sandwich which is received in the nip of a pair of rollers 7, 8 whereby different. images are formed on the opposite sides of the receiving sheet by migratory, transfer, the rollers, 7, 8. also serving to. remove. superfluous liquid. The level of developer in the tank is maintained constant by means of an inverted bottle 9 having outlet tubes 10, 11 which are conected to spigots, on the tank, one level with the bottom of the tank and the other above it at the required level of the developer. By turning the bottle right way up, the contents of the tank may be returned to the bottle. If desired, in such position, turning of the bottle may be adapted to nip the tubes 10, 11 to close them. A second larger supply reservoir having a supply pipe reaching to the level of the developer and fitted with a tap may be removably carried on the developing apparatus. Alternatively the second reservoir may have two supply pipes and be used in the same way as the bottle. The developing apparatus may be mounted on the flat top of a box-form photographic: printingapparatus 1. as described and claimed in Specification 762,473. Instead of using the bottom wall of the developing: tank as one guide face, a bath indicated in dotted lines 14 may be provided, the spigots for the tubes 10, 11 being formed in the bath. Specifications 614,155 and 654,630 and French Specification 879,995 also are referred to. Specifications 4903/47 and 5210/47 open to inspection under Sect. 91.
