Abstract

762,311. Casting-machines. CONTINUOUS CASTING CO., Ltd. April 26, 1955 [April 28, 1954], No. 12355/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 83 (1). A tundish comprises an open-topped well connected to a discharge-orifice or orifices by one or more tubular passages, each passage having its outlet-end at a higher level than its inlet-end in the working position of the tundish so as to prevent liquid-metal flowing out of the outlet-end except when the inlet-end is wholly submerged by liquid-metal in the well. There may be a second open-topped well in the path of the melt, between the first well and the orifices, and connected to. these by the tubular passages. A tundish having two wells and two discharge orifices, feeding two continuouscasting moulds, is described.
