A tuner for a microwave transmission line of the " line-above-ground " type described in Specifications 704,050, 708,601 and 761,764 comprises a pair of stub conductors 6, 7 coupled to the " line " conductor 2 of the transmission line. The " line " conductor 2 is spaced from a planar " ground " conductor 1 by a layer of dielectric material 3. The dielectric layer 3 is recessed at 4 and a dielectric strip 5 equal in thickness to the depth of the recess is arranged to be longitudinally movable within the recess. Carried on the upper surface of the strip 5 are the two stub conductors 6, 7 which abut or overlap the line conductor 2. Between the stub conductors 6, 7 the strip 5 is recessed to receive a slidable dielectric strip 11 having on its surface a conductor 12 which couples to gether the conductors 6, 7. The conductors 6, 7, 12 together with a portion of the line conductor 2 form a resonant network whose size may be adjusted by moving the conductor 12. The adjustment may alternatively be effected by altering the spacing of the stubs 6, 7. One or more further tuners 14 may be provided at spaced distances along the line 2 to operate as a band-pass filter. The whole circuit may be printed to form a non-adjustable resonant network.
