Abstract
761,650. Rocket motors and ingitors therefor. HERCULES POWDER CO. Aug. 15, 1951, No. 19303/51. Classes 9 (1) and 9 (2). A closure device for a gas-discharge orifice is formed of frangible plastic material and carries an electric initiator and an ignitor which explodes the main gas producing charge. As shown, Fig. 10, the discharge orifice 103 is sealed by the closure 10 secured in place by the screw plug 104. Initiator 100 occupies well 17 and the ignitor charge 101 is sealed in compartment 12 by the disc 102. An electric initiator, Fig. 9, comprises a bronze shell 90, containing black powder 91, charge 92 of pentarythritol tetranitrate, priming charge 93 of diazodinitrophenol and potassium chlorate, and ignitia mixture 94 of lead and selenium. The dielectric plug 95 supports the bridge wire 97 in the ignition mixture.
