Abstract

761,183. Refuse vehicles. LEWIN ROAD SWEEPERS, Ltd. July 11, 1955 [July 16, 1954], No. 20737/54. Class 78 (4). A refuse vehicle is provided with a closure member 15 which is movable about pivots 16 by a ram 18, and in which is mounted a feed plate 23 adapted to be moved about pivots 25 by a ram 28 and a linkwork 26, 27, 37. In operation, refuse is deposited on plate 23 through a door 33, the door is closed by movement of a handle 34, and the plate is moved anti-clockwise to transfer and compact the refuse in body 14. Discharge is effected by simultaneous actuation of ram 18 and a ram (not shown) which tips body 14. The rams 18, 28 may be single or double acting or be replaced by screw jacks; and the feed plate may be operated by a pair of rams 28 each acting through a linkwork 26, 27, 37.
