Abstract
760,389. Waveguide accessories. DECCA RECORD CO., Ltd. Dec. 24, 1953 [Dec. 24, 1952], No. 36067/55. Divided out of 760,317. Class 40 (8). A microwave transmission limiter comprises a waveguide 118 having a short-circuited stub 119 containing a piece 121 of ceramic dielectric material of the high dielectric constant type such as barium titanate. Materials of this type have a dielectric constant dependent upon the magnitude of an applied electric field. Hence the position and size of the element 121 may be chosen so that changes in the dielectric constant due to changes in amplitude of the incident microwave field vary the effective position of the short-circuit to limit the power passing along the waveguide 118 past the stub. The effective position of the short-circuit may be adjusted by applying a control potential to the element 121 in the manner described in Specification 760,317. The element may be matched to the stub guide as described in the above mentioned Specification. Specifications 760,386, 760,387 and 760,388, [Group XL (c)], also are referred to.
