A ticket issuing machine, particularly for use as a toy, comprises a casing 10, Fig. 4, a carrier 13 rotatable in the casing and feeding a paper strip 12, Fig. 5, by means of a wheel 52 under a bearing roller 40 as it rotates, and a marker 32 mounted to rotate in and with the carrier 13, the marker having a peripheral surface so shaped that during part of the revolution the strip 12 is sandwiched between the marker surface 33 and the roller 40, the axis of the marker 32 being eccentric to that of the carrier 13 so that the marker can be set into one of a number of positions with a different surface 33 presented to bear against the strip. The marker 32 is mounted on a shaft 31 axially slidable in the carrier 13 against a spring 30 to disengage its clutch 34 with the carrier for varying the setting of the surfaces 33, a marked control knob 28 being provided. The marker may print, perforate, or emboss the ticket strip. The feed wheel 52 engages the centre of the strip 12 and co-operates with a similar wheel 53 mounted on the spindle of the roller 40. The portion of the casing 42, containing the wheel 53 and the roller 40, is hinged to the remainder at 43 and held in its closed position by a spring clip 50. The operating handle 17, integral with the carrier 13, is provided with a gravity-operated catch 16, 20 locking the carrier against further rotation at the end of a revolution. A spring strip 56 co-operating with the toothed surface of the wheel 52 ensures rotation of the carrier in the correct direction. The printed strip is torn off against an edge of the casing. A coin receptacle may be provided in the casing.
