Abstract

758,914. Pneumatic tyres. CONTINENTAL GUMMIWERKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 8, 1952, No. 31072/52. Class 144(2). A pneumatic tyre carcase comprises reinforcing insertions of different extensibilities anchored to the bead cores, the insertions 1 with the smaller extensibility being directed only in one direction obliquely to the mid-circumferential line of the tyre and insertions 2 of greater extensibility being disposed in another oblique direction crossing that of the firstmentioned insertions. The insertions 1 and 2 may be twisted steel wires and textile threads respectively and disposed in separate layers as shown in Fig. 4. Additional insertions 2 of textile threads may be incorporated in the layer of steel wires 1, Fig. 6, to extend parallel to, and in the plane of, said layer. A breaker strip of cords of small extensibility may be incorporated in the tyre with the cords thereof extending parallel to said other direction of the textile insertions 2.
