Sole-edge protecting metal strips 2 having an inturned lip 4 adjacent to the upper are attached as by screws 3 as described in Specification 309,803, [Class 17 (iii)]. The strips 2 are provided with a portion 5 extending over the sole and secured by rivets or screws. Hob nails 6 are passed through holes in this portion 5.
