Abstract
758,104. Separating stones from soil. SUDAN GEZIRA BOARD. Nov. 11, 1954 [Nov. 18, 1953], No. 32018/53. Class 6 (1). A machine for picking up soil, removing stones and roots therefrom and returning the soil to the land comprises a wheeled frame carrying a scoop 14 which passes excavated topsoil rearwardly and upwardly beneath a transverse bladed rotor 16 and a clod-crushing roller 17, the soil thereafter being impelled over a perforated trough 13 by a spiked endless conveyer 19 so that fine soil can percolate back to the ground but stones and roots are ejected rearwardly into receptacles 26, 27. The perforations in the trough are of two sizes, the smaller holes being in the forward part which is formed with a funnel 22 for directing the sifted soil into ridges. The larger apertures open into the receptacle 26. Both the receptacles have hinged bottoms to facilitate the dumping of their contents. The roller 17 is spring-loaded and yieldably mounted in slotted guides 18. The cutter 16, roller 17 and conveyer 19 are power-driven either from the take-off of. the towing tractor or from an engine.(not shown) on the machine.
