Abstract

758,035. Door - operating apparatus. RITCHIE (IMPLEMENTS), Ltd., D. Feb. 24, 1955 (Feb. 24, 1954], No. 5509/54. Class 65 (1). An animal house has at least one door pivoted about a fixed axis above it and normal to its plane and so placed that the centre of gravity of the door is always on the same side of a vertical plane, including the axis, so that the door is selfclosing ; a cam is provided to hold the door open when desired. In the arrangement shown two doors 1 are suspended from pivots 3 on a fixed plate 4, so that they can be pushed apart. by an animal's nose, the edges of the doors being suitably formed. A double cam member 8 pivoted at 7 is rigid with a lever 9 and is arranged to engage the suspension members of the doors to move them apart when the lever is operated; the lever may be prevented from returning, to 'hold the doors open, by a pin engaging a perforated strip 10 fixed to the plate 4.
