Abstract
757,181. Screw-sockets. GISONDI, E. Oct. 25, 1954, No. 30680/54. Class 89 (1). An anchor for securing a screw &c. in a wall &c. is made from a sheet-metal blank, Fig. 1, and comprises a head 1, Fig. 6, with central screw-hole 6 having a number of tongues 7 therearound, prongs 10, 11 having hook-shaped ends 22, 23 which overlap prior to inserting a screw, and lugs 12, 13 pressed out of the prongs. The anchor is inserted in a bore 33 and receives a screw 25 to secure article 30 to the well &c. 32. The screw enters between the notched ends of the lugs, forcing the prongs apart so that the screw tip can enter between the notches of the prong ends 22, 23 and force the rear sides 31 into engagement with the back of the wall. Should the bore not extend through the wall, the hook-shaped ends are wedged against the bore walls. The tongues 7 frictionally engage the screw-shank adjacent the head.
