Abstract
756,932. Electrofuminescent lamp. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and JENKINS, H. G. March 3, 1954 [March 3, 1953], No. 5897/53. Class 39 (1). An electroluminescent lamp comprises a hermetically sealed gasfilled or evacuated glass envelope 1 coated with two conductive layers 6, 8 and an electroluminescent layer 7 between the conductive layers are connected to the end cap terminals 15, 16 by leaf springs 13, 14. The first conductive layer 6 is applied by contacting the heated glass surface with stannic chloride vapour and moist air, and the conductive layer 8 is of aluminium paint. The luminescent material layer of copper-activated zinc sulphide is mixed with and coated by an alkyd resin. The gas filling may be N 2 , CO 2 or an inert gas. The terminals may be at one end of the tube. Specifications 717,171, 724,977 and 731,959 are referred to.
