Abstract
756,333. Two-part couplings. ELWES, N. D. B. Dec. 24, 1953 [Dec. 22, 1952], No. 32374/52. Class 38 (1). A coupling for an electrified wire fence which enables a section of the fence to be opened comprises an operating handle 2 joined at an angle to a lever bar 1, one end 6 of the fence being attached to the inner end of the lever bar. A detachable bar 7 attached at one end to the other end 9 of the fence has an eyelet 10 at its opposite end engaging a hook 3 on the free end of the bar 1, the first-mentioned end of bar 7 resting in a hook 4 on the free end of handle 2 and being retained therein by the tension in the fence. Insulating handles 11 are provided on handle 2 and bar 7. Fig. 3 shows another embodiment wherein a loop on the end 9 of the fence is hooked directly in a notch 6a on bar 1, the wire also passing over hook 4 to maintain the tension in the fence. The attaching of the end 9 is performed by means of an insulating handle 11a loosely threaded thereon.
